Stress, inevitable

A healthy dose of stress keeps things going, allowing us to feel a bit of tension. It can be daily, but not all day long. We also need time to escape from physical or mental strain. A range of signals makes it clear where overload threatens; some are obvious, while others are more subtle.

It is also clear that relaxation must be sought to 'reset' our system, restore our resilience, and prepare for the inevitably upcoming stress points.

There is no shortage of signals, such as headaches, fatigue, palpitations, stomach issues, back and neck pain, forgetfulness, concentration problems, worrying, poor sleep, a bad mood, or becoming angry more quickly. But also consider raised shoulders or clenched fists, often done unconsciously.

If detected in a timely manner, relaxation can help alleviate the pressure, at least temporarily. The key is to recognize or acknowledge the underlying issues in order to take effective steps.

In the mix of conscious or mindful walking, relaxation is enhanced by walking in nature, breathing techniques, interspersed with playful relaxation exercises and meditative activities. In addition to centering relaxation, it is equally important to allow energy to flow again and to regain self-confidence. After all, this opens us up to new impulses and insights, enabling us to gain clarity on the underlying issues and to take appropriate action.
